the pull of the ocean

…and as i looked back to the shore
everything was already becoming faint
the pull of the ocean
was so great
i could no longer resist its lure

i saw the children laughing
innocent, clean and new
playfully hopeful and free
i saw the sky,
the clouds rolling gracefully by,
unconcerned by future or past

i even saw you
looking at the great ocean
perhaps you were searching for me?
you looked thoughtful
and deep

and i watched it fade
like a dream
i felt relieved
and sad

but as i took off my body
the greatest joy
began to arise
a joy beyond
anything
i could ever describe
to one still
locked up in
attachment.

i gave myself
to the ocean.
